Back to Blogger

I haven't been using blogger...I've been using another journal (livejournal, it's great! LOL) but I thought maybe I should start posting here as well, since some of my friends use blogger.

So...I tried to import my other journal posts but it will not let me. (boo). So I'll just start from scratch. Next time I blog to my other blogs (livejournal and wordpress on my site) I'll also post it here.

Hello Blogger bloggers!! ;)

New Artwork

Isn't this fabulous??!!

Thanks to artist Angela Melick for this fantastic artwork that I am using on my writing site and will be using for business cards and other promotional material.

I met Angela in the dealer's room at VCON (Vancouver's Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Gaming Convention-visit their site here: http://www.vcon.ca/index.htm) and started talking to her about this idea I had, to do a piece of artwork for my site-having to do with writing...with me in it!

After sending me tons of different sketches, (that were all incredible) I finally decided on this one. We kept in touch back and forth as she worked on it, discussing changes, colours, etc. Angela was excellent about making sure she knew exactly what I wanted.

So now I have the finished product and I am thrilled with it! It's better than I ever could imagined. So big thank you to Angela for doing it and now I have even more motivation for hitting the keyboard and writing those masterpieces...so I can start to use this gorgeous artwork in advertising! ;)

Whehew!

I thought this was an appropriate picture to go along with my news that one of my short stories will be included in an anthology that Nancy Kilpatrick is doing, the anthology will be released at the 2010 World Horror Convention in England. I'm already planning my trip there!!

After finding out this great news, I looked into the 2009 World Horror Convention and it just happens to be in WINNIPEG this year! Just a hop, skip and a jump away for me. So as long as Ross doesn't win a trip to play poker in Monte Carlo that weekend...I will be attending the convention!!

Now I've got to get back to writing!!

Writing Workshop!!

I just joined up for a Manuscript Writing Workshop with Eileen Kernaghan, author of The Sarsen Witch, Wild Talent: a Novel of the Supernatural and many other great novels.

I am very excited!!! It starts on Monday night (just two days!) and runs for 8 weeks. It's limited to 10 people, we'll meet for 2 1/2 hours and it's for manuscripts finished or in progress. So that has given me a kick in the pants to sit down and work on my fantasy novel. As I said to a few writing friends, this novel has been trashed, redone, pulled from the trash...now I've decided to just finish the darn thing for the experience, and for the experience of going through it in the workshop.

I am also going to take the advice of pal Diana Rowland (author of Mark of the Demon, coming out soon!) and try entering the Writers of the Future contests. That will give me definite deadlines for my short stories as well.

AND I will be working on my new writing site design so I can get that online asap.

All the best,
Sandra

Goals

It is time for me to set some writing goals and STICK to them!

Here it is officially...my writing goal for January 09 (and I'll hopefully be able to reach those goals and set new ones the next month) are:

1. Write 500 wds Mon-Fri on my Fantasy novel

2. Sunday is "Short Story Sunday", the day to work on my latest short story

3. Work on the NEW site design that I have for the writing section of my site. I like the design and can't wait to get it online!

So that's it...time to just get down to it-no excuses!!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!
Wishing you all the best for 2009
May it be filled with love!

As for me, I am off to the bahamas in two days.....yehew!! Sun, sand, rest, relaxation...and WRITING!

I have set my New Year's writing goals....and was thinking of putting a discussion board on my writing site for any writers wanting to list their goals, word counts and progress. It is something I will consider while I am remodeling my site-which I am doing right now! I will launch the new look later this month-stay tuned as they say!
